Mark’s passion for plants in general and
more particularly aromatic plants (with emphasis on those from Australia)
meant this book was a foregone conclusion.
He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Plant Biology
and Diplomas in Remedial Massage and Aromatherapy. He also holds
a Cert. IV in Assessment & Workplace Training and has undertaken
extensive further studies in Western Herbal Medicine and Aromatic
Medicine.
His most recent published work is the Aromatherapy chapter for
the recently released university textbook 'An
Introduction to Complimentary Medicine' edited by Terry
Robson and published by Allen & Unwin.
Mark currently lectures in a variety of subjects in the Beauty
& Massage departments at ACNT.
Previously he has also taught subjects within the Cert. IV in Aromatherapy
at TAFE Blue Mountains & Meadowbank colleges.
He has attended and spoken at conferences and workshops on Aromatherapy
in France,
USA, New Zealand and locally in NSW and WA.
As a Clinical Aromatherapist his unique
treatment style combines a commonsense understanding of disease
processes with a thorough understanding of the therapeutics applications
of plant-derived drugs. His massage style is a combination of remedial,
swedish & lymphatic drainage with aromatics and various forms
of energetic healing.
Mark also consults to the essential oil
industry in the areas of crop development, marketing and aroma product
development.
His interests are as diverse as his educational
background - from gardening to perfumery and even jewelry design.
In his ‘corporate days’ he worked in the
IT industry for a large newspaper group. Through the pressure of
his corporate career Mark discovered the healing powers of massage
& aromatherapy and that journey continues today. Since his corporate
days he has operated his own graphic and WWW design business.
An accomplished photographer, Mark has won
several awards for his nature work. His photography of orchids has
been seen in local and international journals and he has co-authored
two books on orchids. Mark, in the past has also lectured locally
and internationally on orchids.
He currently lives at the foothills of the
picturesque Blue Mountains, on the western edge of Sydney.
